How does THC work?
THC interacts with your body’s Endocannabinoid System (ECS), binding to CB1 receptors in the brain and central nervous system.
What is the Endocannabinoid System?
The ECS is a network of receptors throughout the human body that support homeostasis. Your body produces its own cannabinoids, known as endocannabinoids, which help the endocannabinoid system function. THC and other plant-derived cannabinoids, or phytocannabinoids, have a similar shape to endocannabinoids and thus are able to interact with your ECS.

Recreational cannabis is used primarily to illicit a “high.” Often times users will feel their mood elevate, have an easier time sleeping, stress levels drop, and their appetite increase. Cannabis has also been known to be used medically as an antiemetic, pain reliever, anxiety treatment, and antispasmodic.
What are terpenes?
Terpenes are aromatic compounds found frequently in nature and give many fruits and vegetables their aroma. Some examples you might know of are limonene from lemon, linalool from lavender, pinene from pine, and myrcene from black pepper. These terpenes each have wellness benefits as well, with Limonene (for example.) having mood-boosting and energizing effects. All of these terpenes can be found in the cannabis plant and are responsible for its aroma and the effects of the different strains. Terpenes are also safe for human consumption.
